The Arts & Health Hub is pleased to be working in partnership with the Royal College of Psychiatrist’s Arts Special Interest Group (ArtSIG) to commission 2 virtual workshops, delivered by 2 different artists. After the success of our first round of commissions, we have secured a second opportunity. The workshops are to be delivered to psychiatrists that are members of the ArtSIG who have a particular interest in how the arts can play a vital role in our health and wellbeing.

The Brief

The commissioned artists will each deliver 1 one-hour long workshop over a digital platform (Zoom/Microsoft Teams to be confirmed). The opportunity is open to varied arts forms, including (but not exclusively) to visual arts, sound, dance etc.

There is a fee of £130 to be paid the artist (inclusive of materials) by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Key points to consider are:

  • The workshops take place over lunchtimes. Participants may be at home, or at work, so the workshop materials must be accessible;
  • Potential workshops could cover themes of: relaxing creative activities; stimulating and reflective exercises on psychiatry; the patient/psychiatric relationship and dynamic;
  • Participant numbers may range from 10 – 40 people.
  • You an only submit one proposal.

Workshops are to be delivered during late May and early June. Dates are to be confirmed with successful applicants. Please let us know if there any dates that you cannot do.

We actively encourage and welcome applications from artists with lived experience of mental health difficulties, those from ethnically diverse communities and LGBTQIA+ artists. If you have access needs please do briefly include them in your application and how we might be able to accommodate them.

We anticipate that we will receive far more applications than we can accept. Please note that due to our small team and with limited resources we are unable to provide individual feedback for unsuccessful applicants.
