Loved&Lost invites participants to explore their experience of loss and grief. Each person is asked to find an image of themselves with someone who has passed away. We then return to the location of the photograph to re-stage it, before we find somewhere to sit and record a conversation. The whole experience is a chance to think back and remember, to celebrate those no longer with us and to make space to talk about our grief.
The project began after I lost my dad in 2009, and has become even more poignant since my younger sister passed away last year. It has been an exploration of my grief, whilst enabling others to explore theirs.
The exhibition at Weston Park Museum features 9 stories from the project, displayed through photographs, interview quotes and photofilms. It runs until 19th April 2020.
