Collaborations III: Artists & Social Prescribing (in person)

  • Southbank Centre Belvedere Road London, England, SE1 8XX United Kingdom (map)

The Arts and Health Hub and the Southbank Centre present their next event focusing on the theme of collaborations. This event focuses on participatory artists working with cultural and health partners within a social prescribing context.

Social prescribing is defined by NHS England as ‘an approach that connects people to activities, groups, and services in their community to meet the practical, social and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing.’ It provides the opportunity for social prescribing link workers (based at GP practices and within local community organisations) to refer patients directly into creative activities taking place locally, including at community organisations such as charities, galleries and museums.

Join us at this event to hear about this complex and rewarding work, including from artists, cultural organisations and social prescribers exploring:

  • how cultural social prescribing projects have been initiated and what considerations have been made in their design;

  • the role that cultural organisations play in working with both artists and the healthcare service;

  • the role and responsibility of the artist in social prescribing projects;

  • how care is embedded across all three sectors taking part in the work.

After the event, join us from 5pm – 6pm for informal chats, drinks and nibbles to get to know each other more.

Cost.

Free!
